I was introduced to yoga almost 10 years ago while training
for my first half marathon. Running through the pain seemed like par for the course -every runner I knew had similar
injuries. A friend of mine suggested I try yoga to work out some of the tightness I had in my hamstrings.
After the very first class I was hooked. I loved the movement and found beauty right away in the postures. I
soon experienced running aches and pains fading away. After a couple of weeks my body was feeling more limber; after
a couple of months all of my knee, shin, hamstring and lower back pain was gone. It wasn't until four years later
that it became more than a physical practice but that came at just the right time... When it rains,
it pours and my life went through a period of "extreme weather". During this time the one constant in my life
was my yoga. I got down on my mat everyday and found my center there. I was able to stay strong through those
storms and through my yoga found my peace. I clearly remember extending in Baddha Konasana and feeling not
only my body but spirit opening up - opening to the changes that my life was going through and knowing that everything was
going to be okay. Once I got rid of the fear I was able to plow through the tough choices and find my own balance.
At that point I knew that someday I would teach. My hope is that through my classes my students can find
their own freedom and joy. Once a student realizes that they have it all within themselves then it's easy.
Balance to me is shifting through all of the unneccessary thoughts that squash our hopes and dreams and
living in the moment. It's about being present and aware. Yoga gets you there. Jenn recieved her 200 hour certified teacher training (CYT) from Jennifer Allen
Logosso and Christine Loebsack at Sundari Yoga & Wellness (www.sundariyoga.com) in 2008. She has also studied with Steve Ross, David Swenson and Sarah Powers, but is most influenced
by her current teacher Rusty Wells (www.bhaktiflow.com), after recently completing 100 hours of teacher training with him in San Francisco, CA. When
Jenn is not in the studio you can usually find her in her car running her 4 kids around town to their various activities!
