I first started yoga because of low back pain due to scoliosis. Scoliosis is a curvature of the spine that I have had for 30 years. After several attempts to live with the pain, I decided to try strengthening and stretching of my core and back. After several yoga classes, I found a very therapeutic element of the yoga practice. My back pain was decreasing but I felt at peace in a very calming and nurturing environment. Ironically, I am a licensed occupational therapist for 20 years and I found every pose to have a therapeutic and healing effect for my body. I have since completed 14 therapeutic yoga credits and 100 hours of yoga training at Balance Yoga. My experiences in therapeutic medicine and personal journey of yoga have brought me to this point to educate and train others in their personal goals through a healing environment. My teaching and training also includes my daughter who is also diagnosed with scoliosis. My goal is to provide a safe alternative to deal with pain and provide my students with strength and a better understanding of the physical body thru a mind, body, and spirit connection.
